PESHAWAR: The 108th meeting of the Provincial Workers Welfare Board (WWB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was held under the chairmanship of the Board Chairman, Captain (R) Mian Adil Iqbal wherein important decisions regarding the welfare and well-being of workers were taken. Secretary WWB, Sher Alam Khan, gave a detailed briefing on various matters. Senior officers, representatives of the government and labor organizations also participated in the meeting. APP
\nThe board approved an important proposal under which, during the current year, 10 sons and daughters of workers will be sent to the Civil Services Academy, Lahore, for four months of special training to prepare for the CSS examination, so that children of the working class may be provided effective opportunities in national-level competitive examinations.
\nTo further strengthen workers\u2019 welfare, the board approved a significant increase in the dowry grant, raising it from Rs. 400,000 to Rs. 600,000. Similarly, the death grant was increased from Rs. 800,000 to Rs. 1,000,000 in order to provide better financial support to the families of deceased workers.
\nDuring the meeting, recommendations of the HR Committee and the Departmental Promotion Committee were also presented, which were unanimously approved by the Board.
\nOn the special instructions of the Provincial Minister for Labour, Faisal Khan Turkai, formal approval was also granted for the establishment of a commercial market, a hospital, and a girls\u2019 school within the 2,056 family flats located at Regi Lalma, Peshawar. This will ensure the availability of basic and quality facilities for the residents.
\nIn addition, the performance of the stitching (sewing) pilot project previously approved by the Board was presented in the meeting. Appreciating the performance of vocational institutes, the Board approved the expansion of this project across the entire province.
