KP cabinet approves special courts to safeguard property rights of overseas Pakistanis

\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister underscored the importance of inclusive decision-making, stressing that dialogue among all parties is essential for effective policy formulation in the province against the rising challenge of terrorism.
\nHe warned that decisions taken behind closed doors cannot restore public trust or bring lasting peace to the province.
\nChief Minister Sohail Afridi expressed these views while chairing the provincial cabinet meeting here on Monday.
\nThe meeting, attended by provincial cabinet members, senior administrative officials, and legal experts, discussed a wide array of measures aimed at strengthening social welfare, improving public services, and promoting administrative reforms, a handout said.
\nDuring his address, CM KP highlighted the government\u2019s stance, the Chief Minister made it clear that KP firmly opposed any military operations within the province, emphasizing that such actions would not restore peace or confidence among the people.
\nSpeaking to media after the cabinet meeting, CM aide on information Shafi Jan said that a number of important decisions were made regarding the welfare of the province, ranging from the protection of overseas Pakistanis\u2019 property rights to youth engagement and infrastructure development.
\nHe said the cabinet approved Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Establishment of Special Courts (Overseas Pakistanis Properties) Act 2025.
\nThe new law aims to safeguard the property rights of overseas Pakistanis, who play a crucial role in the country\u2019s economy, he added.
\nIn a move to support the families of martyrs, CM aide maintained that the cabinet decided to expand the \u201cMartyrs Package\u201d to include staff from the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department.
\nAdditionally, the cabinet directed the formulation of a uniform policy to honor martyrs from all uniformed forces serving in the province, he added .
\nAccording to Shafi Jan the cabinet approved Rs 6 million for the organization of the Grand Kurraam Youth Convention, which aims to provide young people with a platform to engage in discussions about national and provincial issues.
\n\u201c The Chief Minister stressed that such initiatives are vital for promoting national unity and ensuring the active participation of the youth in the country\u2019s development,\u201d Jan said and added that the cabinet approved an allocation of Rs 900 million for the Irrigation Department to clean provincial roads, a necessary step to reduce the risks posed by floods during the upcoming rainy season.
\nThe cleaning campaign will be carried out in a transparent and organized manner, with a focus on efficiency and public safety.
\nThe Social Welfare Department was instructed to take special measures for the homeless, as well as ensure adequate arrangements for tourists in the province\u2019s popular winter tourist districts. In a bid to support education, the cabinet also approved the procurement of buses for the Special Education Complex in Hayatabad and for children under the care of the Zamong Kor.
\nCM aide on information stated that the cabinet approved the inclusion of Cadet College Lakki Marwat under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Educational and Training Institutions Ordinance 1971. Additionally, a Fourtier formula was approved for the upgradation of librarians in the Higher Education Department.
\nThe healthcare sector saw significant investment as the cabinet approved Rs 448 million for the structural heart and cardiac transplant program, alongside funding for the replacement of hemodialysis machines in government hospitals. The meeting also endorsed the continuation of services for head nurses and senior clinical technicians in Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) hospitals.
\nTo enhance environmental and wildlife protection, the cabinet sanctioned the purchase of vehicles for national parks, wildlife projects, and forest staff in merged districts.
\nFinally, the meeting addressed ongoing public sector reforms, approving the appointment of four independent directors to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minerals Development and Management Company.
