\nFederal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Monday reaffirmed that a strict zero-tolerance policy is being enforced against individuals involved in the theft and sabotage of railway property.
\nThe minister lauded the timely action of SHO Railway Police Landhi Muhammad Habib Zafar and his team for successfully thwarting an attempt to steal valuable railway tracks in Karachi, said a news release. He said such criminal activities cause heavy losses to the national exchequer and damage critical public infrastructure.
\nIn line with the government\u2019s zero-tolerance policy against theft and damage to national assets, the Railway Police conducted a major operation in Karachi, recovering railway material worth millions of rupees and arresting four suspects. According to details, the Railway Police Karachi Division carried out a successful raid within the jurisdiction of Railway Police Station Landhi, near Murtaaza Chowrangi and along the Malir River.
\nDuring the operation, a gang involved in stealing railway tracks and other equipment was caught red-handed while cutting railway lines using gas cutters. Initial investigations revealed that the recovered railway material was worth millions of rupees and that the criminal activity had already caused significant financial losses.
\nThe timely intervention by the Railway Police prevented further damage to vital railway infrastructure. A case has been registered against the arrested suspects at Railway Police Station Landhi, while raids are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang involved in railway theft.
\nThe operation was conducted under the leadership of SHO Railway Police Landhi Muhammad Habib Zafar.
