Suspension of CNG gas unconstitutional

\nSpecial Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan has expressed serious concern over the suspension of gas supply to CNG stations in the province, stating that uninterrupted gas provision must be ensured in accordance with constitutional rights and allocated quota.
\nShafi Jan made these remarks during a meeting with a representative delegation of the All Pakistan CNG Association KP chapter, said a handout.
\nDuring the meeting, the delegation briefed the Special Assistant in detail about the suspension of gas supply to CNG stations and highlighted the serious problems and financial losses being faced by the sector due to the shutdown.
\nShafi Jan stated that KP was a resource-rich province and produced natural gas far in excess of its own needs.
\nHe said that the province\u2019s total gas production exceeds 480 MMCFD, while the total gas consumption of the CNG sector across the country was around 190 MMCFD.
\nHe added that CNG stations in the province consumed only about 48 MMCFD.
\nHe emphasized that under the Constitution of Pakistan, a gas-producing province has the first right over its natural resources, and depriving KP of its due share was unjust and unconstitutional.
\nThe Special Assistant further said that the suspension of CNG supply was severely affecting poor taxi, rickshaw, and public transport drivers, who were already struggling due to rising inflation.
