\nPTV bowl out SNGPL for 37 while defending modest 40-run target

\nPakistan Television (PTV) created a world record of defending the lowest target in all first-class cricket when they stopped the opposition in a chase of just 40 runs.
\nPTV, defending champions in the President\u2019s Trophy, shot Sui Northern Gas (SNGPL) for a paltry 37 to win the match by a mere two runs on day three of the four-day game.
\nThis becomes a new record in 253 years of first-class cricket, beating England\u2019s Oldfield\u2019s 1794 feat when they successfully defended 41 against MCC at the Lord\u2019s Old Ground to win by six runs.
\nPTV\u2019s head coach Mohammad Waseem praised his team\u2019s historic effort.
\n\u201cI am delighted with my team\u2019s world record effort,\u201d Waseem told AFP. \u201cMy team\u2019s motto is to never give up, fight till the last ball,\u201d he said.
\n\u201cThis is not the first time we have won all our three matches coming from well behind by remaining positive in all situations.\u201d
\nThe star-studded SNGPL batting led by Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood were bowled out in 19.4 overs with just one batter, Saifullah Bangash, crossing double figures with 14.
\nMasood was out without scoring while Test players, Mohammad Ali made six and spinner Sajid Khan just three.
\nPakistan\u2019s international players Omair Bin Yousuf made six and Abdul Samad five.
\nFor the winners, left-arm spinner Ali Usman wrecked the batting with 6-9 and pacer Ammad Butt took 4-28 – the only two bowlers used in their second innings innings.
\nSNGPL\u2019s head coach is former Pakistan Test skipper Misbahul Haq with another former captain Azhar Ali their batting coach.
\nMeanwhile, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar lauded the PTV team for their record win, saying: \u201cWell done my boys! Kudos to you.\u201d
\n\u201cPTV\u2019s rise is no coincidence,\u201d he said, adding that \u201cthis is what happens when talent is backed, hard work is valued, and merit is rewarded\u201d.
\nTarar noted the previous as well as current success of the team was due to the importance of merit and refusal of favours. \u201cMerit and only merit. Have refused all sifarish,\u201d he said.
