\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has directed the completion of the process for creating 700 new doctor posts for Basic Health Units (BHUs) within one week, emphasizing that strengthening healthcare services at the grassroots level was essential to reduce unnecessary patient referrals.
\nAccording to an official statement, the Chief Minister chaired the fifth District Service Delivery Conference here on Wednesday.
\nMembers of the provincial cabinet, the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, administrative secretaries of relevant departments, and Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners from across the province attended the conference.
\nThe Chief Minister underscored the importance of timely complaint redressal, proactive disaster preparedness, protection of vulnerable segments of society, and improved governance mechanisms to ensure effective public service delivery across the province.
\nThe chief executive also directed relevant departments to prepare advance flood contingency plans and immediately share them with the district administration.
\nThe Chief Minister also directed the establishment of an effective emergency communication mechanism at tourist destinations, and instructed the Local Government Department to complete and activate street lights on major roads within two weeks.
\nWhile discussing matters related to Dar-ul-Amans, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi directed that the appointment of wardens be completed on a priority basis.
\nHe further instructed that the construction of the Swat Dar-ul-Aman building be completed at the earliest, and that separate schemes be introduced for the construction of permanent buildings for other Dar-ul-Amans.
\nSohail Afridi declared delays of more than two weeks in complaint redressal unacceptable, and directed that complaints be resolved in a timely and effective manner according to their nature.
\nExpressing satisfaction over positive governance initiatives undertaken in the province, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi directed that further efforts be made to improve the process. He emphasized strengthening departmental complaint redressal mechanisms, paying special attention to districts facing shortages of facilities, and incorporating public output indicators to assess performance.
\nHe also directed improvements in cleanliness and drainage systems in livestock markets and vegetable markets.
\nDuring the briefing, it was informed that significant progress has been made under the first phase of the District Service Delivery initiative, with an overall service delivery rate of 87 percent, while the complaint resolution rate has increased by 20 percent.
\nIt was further reported that 70 percent of complaints have been resolved, while progress is ongoing on the remaining 30 percent.
\nThe briefing further stated that under the first phase of public service delivery, focus was placed on 19 public service areas across 7 sectors, covering more than 1,100 public service facilities. Deputy Commissioners conducted over 5,000 field visits, while third-party monitors carried out more than 4,000 visits.
\nAdministrative Secretaries held 30 open courts and inspected 94 facilities, while Commissioners organized 18 open courts and visited 49 facilities.
\nOn the financial front, it was informed that a total of Rs 10 billion has been released for the implementation of the first phase of the program, which accounts for 45 percent of the total allocated funds.
\nThis includes Rs 4.4 billion under M&R and Rs 5.6 billion under SDI. It was also stated that the creation of 700 doctor posts for Basic and Rural Health Centers is in its final stages, and that beautification plans have been submitted by all districts.
\nOn the occasion, the second phase of District Service Delivery, titled \u201cDistrict Service Delivery 2.0,\u201d was formally launched.
\nIt was informed that 10 additional public service areas have been included in the second phase, including secondary hospitals, colleges, water supply, waste collection, manholes, desilting of irrigation canals, tehsil offices, service delivery centers, and district beautification plans.
\nUnder the second phase, tracking of 285 indicators across a total of 29 public service areas has been included, with clear targets and timelines defined.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
