\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, chaired an E-Open Court(Kuli Kachehri) at the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Peshawar, to directly hear public complaints and ensure their prompt resolution.
\nThis was the first-ever open court held by the department to address public grievances related to Excise matters.Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Khalid Ilyas, along with senior officers from all wings of the department, attended the session. During the open court, a total of 46 phone calls were received from across the province and from outside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 280 public comments were recorded during the Facebook Live session.
\nThe complaints and suggestions pertained to vehicle registration issues, requests for launching anti-narcotics campaigns, problems faced by citizens and passengers at checkpoints, deployment of Excise staff at various locations, and other related matters.
\nTaking serious notice of complaints regarding the checking of citizens\u2019 mobile phones at checkpoints, the provincial minister issued clear and strict instructions that the dignity and respect of the public must be ensured at all times during checking.
\nHe categorically stated that checking personal mobile phones is an illegal act, and warned that strict legal action would be taken against any officer or official found involved in such practices.
\nThe minister further informed that the public can lodge complaints related to the Excise Department on his official social media pages, assuring that all such complaints would be acted upon strictly and in letter and spirit.
\nOn the spot, Syed Fakhar Jehan issued immediate directions to the concerned authorities for effective measures to resolve public issues. Responding to specific complaints, he also directed that officers and officials deployed at checkpoints must not make TikTok or other social media platforms videos during duty hours.
\nHe emphasized that the primary responsibility of the Excise Department is the eradication of narcotics, not personal branding or humiliating citizens by creating staged or \u201cfilmy\u201d scenes.
\nHe warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against anyone found violating these instructions in the future.
\nDuring the open court, citizens from across the province appreciated the zero-tolerance policy and the ongoing effective anti-narcotics operations being carried out under the leadership of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi and the supervision of Provincial Minister Syed Fakhar Jehan.
\nThe public stated that for the first time, the Excise Department has launched such effective and result-oriented operations against the menace of drugs, and paid tribute to the tireless efforts of the provincial minister.
\nAddressing the participants, Syed Fakhar Jehan said that indiscriminate operations against drug dealers, traffickers and addicts would continue across the province.
\nHe said that narcotics are a heinous business pushing the younger generation towards destruction, and therefore those involved do not deserve any leniency.
