\nChief Executive Officer of Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan (WSSCM), Shahid Khan along with international energy expert Dr. Naveed, distributed certificates among seven interns who successfully completed their internships in the Water Supply and Fleet Management sections under the GIZ-supported REE-Scale 2 project.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Shahid Khan urged the interns to put the knowledge and skills gained during their training into practical use for the development of the country.
\nHe said that the nation has high expectations from the youth, who constitute nearly 70 percent of Pakistan\u2019s population. He emphasized that young people should acquire expertise in diverse fields and work with a strong sense of national responsibility to help build a brighter future and address public issues.
\nThe CEO stated that the internship program is part of WSSCM\u2019s comprehensive strategy to promote energy conservation. He added that with the support of GIZ and the Center for Intelligent Systems and Network Research (CISNR), the company is on track to achieve ISO 50001 certification in energy management in the near future.
\nHighlighting the ongoing energy challenges, Shahid Khan said that Pakistan is currently facing a severe energy crisis, which can only be overcome through collective efforts. He noted that efficient energy management practices have enabled WSSCM to reduce its monthly electricity bills by approximately PKR 1.5 million, while improved fuel management has resulted in annual savings of millions of rupees.
\nOn the occasion, international energy expert Dr. Naveed said that Pakistan faces multiple challenges in the energy sector.
\nHe stated that CISNR is working in collaboration with various institutions to address these challenges. He further added that GIZ continues to support several departments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in promoting efficient energy use, the positive results of which are already visible and will contribute significantly to mitigating the energy crisis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
