Pakistan risks its international standing of oppressed peoples: Allama Hussain

\nPresident, Majlis-e-Ulama Maktab-e-Ahl-e-Bait (Pakistan), Allama Syed Hussain Abbas Gardeezi strongly condemn the Government of Pakistan\u2019s decision to join the so-called Board of Peace established under the leadership of former US President Donald Trump.
\nThis decision is morally indefensible, politically flawed, and in direct contradiction to Pakistan\u2019s long-standing principled position on Palestine and international law.
\nFrom its very inception, this initiative has been deeply problematic. Presenting a foreign-controlled administrative framework for post-war Gaza amounts to stripping the Palestinian people of their inherent right to self-governance.
\nBy handing over reconstruction, security, and political oversight to external powers, this scheme reflects a colonial mindset that history has repeatedly shown leads not to peace, but to prolonged occupation and injustice.
\nWhat was initially portrayed as a limited reconstruction mechanism for Gaza has now evolved into a broader political project.
\nStatements by its principal sponsors and the contents of its proposed charter indicate ambitions that go far beyond humanitarian relief, with little to no regard for the authority of the United Nations.
\nThe absence of clear UN oversight and the expanding powers of this Board raise serious concerns that it is designed to bypass or weaken the multilateral international system.
\nPakistan\u2019s participation in such a structure is deeply troubling. On one hand, Pakistan consistently relies on the United Nations and international law to defend its principled stance on Kashmir.
\nOn the other hand, by joining a forum that sidelines the UN, Pakistan undermines the very legal and diplomatic framework it claims to uphold. This contradiction is neither strategic nor moral.
\nMoreover, the Palestinian cause has always been rooted in the right to self-determination and in UN-recognized legal legitimacy not in externally imposed governance models.
\nLimiting Gaza to a narrow zone, excluding Palestinians from meaningful representation, and legitimizing Israeli control under the guise of \u201cpeacekeeping\u201d only entrenches injustice.
\nShort-term political alignments must not come at the cost of long-term moral and strategic credibility.
\nBy associating itself with a project that weakens Palestinian sovereignty and the UN system, Pakistan risks damaging its international standing and its historical role as a supporter of oppressed peoples.
\nWe therefore call upon the Government of Pakistan to immediately withdraw from this so-called Board of Peace, to reaffirm its commitment to the United Nations framework, and to stand firmly with the Palestinian people and their legitimate struggle for freedom and dignity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
