\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday passed a resolution strongly condemning the federal government\u2019s decision to include Pakistan in the so-called Gaza Peace Board.
\nThe resolution was presented by Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam, stating that the provincial assembly completely rejects the federal government\u2019s decision to join the Gaza Peace Board, which was formed under the leadership of the United States and Israel.
\nThe resolution said that the formation of the board is against the true spirit of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions on Gaza.
\nIt further stated that the Gaza Peace Board has been formed without the participation or consent of the Palestinian and Gaza leadership, which clearly indicates a conspiracy to undermine the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state.
\nThe resolution criticized the role of the United States, terming it a supporter of Israeli atrocities against Palestinians.
\nIt pointed out that the US has repeatedly vetoed ceasefire resolutions at the United Nations Security Council and has adopted double standards on the Palestine issue, while continuing to support Israel\u2019s actions against humanity in Gaza.
\nThe text of the resolution described the Gaza Peace Board as a \u201cdangerous development\u201d and expressed serious concern over reports that the board could form a subcommittee in which Pakistan and Israel would both be members.
\nIt warned that Israel appears to have a dominant role in the board, whose agenda, according to the resolution, is not peace but the sidelining of Palestine\u2019s principled position. Referring to the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the resolution recalled his clear stance that Pakistan would never recognize Israel and that the Israeli occupation of Palestine was illegal.
\nIt emphasized that Pakistan\u2019s foreign policy has historically been based on support for justice, the oppressed, and the right to self-determination.
\nThe resolution demanded that the federal government maintain a clear, principled and unequivocal position in full support of the sovereignty, freedom and legitimate rights of Palestine and Gaza.
\nIt urged the government not to become part of any initiative that contradicts the aspirations of the Palestinian people or weakens their struggle for an independent state.
