\nPESHAWAR
\nRescue 1122, the provincial emergency service of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, carried out extensive rescue and relief operations across the province during three consecutive days of heavy snowfall and extreme cold.
\nAccording to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi, the emergency response was conducted under the leadership of Director General Rescue 1122, Tayyab Abdullah, with rescue teams remaining active across the province despite severe weather conditions.
\nHe said that Rescue 1122 teams rescued 3,010 stranded people, including internally displaced persons, tourists and travelers, from snowbound areas.
\nA total of 942 vehicles, including trucks, vans and private cars, were also recovered, helping restore movement on key routes.
\nHundreds of affected individuals were provided immediate medical assistance.
\nUsing heavy machinery, rescue teams cleared 60 major roads and highways, easing traffic congestion and providing relief to thousands of commuters and local residents.
\nFaizi said that special rescue operations were carried out in District Khyber, particularly in Tirah Valley and surrounding areas, where teams worked round the clock to evacuate stranded people, assist the sick and injured, and reopen snow-blocked routes.
\nHe added that emergency responders remained deployed in mountainous districts including Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Chitral, Kurram, North and South Waziristan, Orakzai, Lower and Upper Dir, Kohistan, Kumrat and Abbottabad, as well as other remote regions, despite subzero temperatures, strong winds and continuous snowfall.
\nDuring the operations, 535 rescue personnel and 190 emergency vehicles participated, while 32 temporary rescue points were established to ensure swift response in high-risk and remote areas.
\nThe spokesperson said that all Rescue 1122 stations across KP remain on high alert and emergency operations are continuing.
