\nDistrict authorities in Kohat have reported significant improvements in the ongoing polio eradication campaign, reducing the number of poorly performing union councils (UCs) from 26 to just 5, while missed child cases have also declined markedly.
\nThis progress was showed during a meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz Wazir on Wednesday to assess preparations for the upcoming polio vaccination campaign scheduled from February 2 to 7.
\nOfficials highlighted improved field supervision, expanded vaccination coverage and timely data reporting as key factors behind the gains.
\nAccording to district health officials, overall performance has improved in 33 percent of Kohat\u2019s union councils, reflecting stronger coordination among field teams and enhanced monitoring mechanisms.
\nEarlier, the upcoming polio drive was formally launched by the Deputy Commissioner along with the District Police Officer, who administered polio drops to children at the inaugural ceremony.
\nSecurity arrangements, availability of vaccination teams and parental cooperation were reviewed in detail to ensure smooth implementation of the campaign.
\nAuthorities have set a target of vaccinating approximately 193,000 children across the district during the campaign.
\nAddressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Nawaz Wazir said the district administration, health department and law enforcement agencies were working on the front lines to achieve complete eradication of polio, adding that any negligence or lapse in the national effort would not be tolerated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
