\nIn a major breakthrough in Kohistan corruption scandal 10 accused have surrendered and submitted applications to the Accountability Court, expressing their willingness to relinquish assets worth millions of rupees.
\nThe hearing was conducted by Administrative Judge Muhammad Zafar Khan of the Accountability Court. Officials present included NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Muhammad Ali, Prosecutor Manik Shah and Investigation Officer Muhammad Inayatullah.
\nDuring the proceedings, the accused filed applications stating that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had taken possession of various assets registered in their names in connection with the Kohistan corruption case. The accused maintained that these properties and assets were actually purchased by the main accused and registered in their names, making them benami (proxy holders).
\nThey informed the court that they had no real ownership or connection with the said assets and had no objection if NAB formally took them into custody.
\nAddressing the court, Deputy Prosecutor General Muhammad Ali stated that if the accused surrender these assets, NAB would not pursue further legal action against them. The surrendered assets include plots and luxury vehicles.
\nHe further informed the court that the accused were benami holders and were willing to return assets worth Rs 237.78 million (Rs 23 crore 77 lakh 78 thousand 600) to the state.
