\nOn the ninth day of the 25-day Awami Theatre Festival 026, the stage comedy play \u201cMeray Friend ki Girl Friend\u201d was presented, drawing laughter and applause from a packed audience.
\nBabar Jamal wrote the play and Ilyas Nadeem, the play was brought to life through engaging direction and strong performances by the cast, which included Meer Aslam Lashari, Ali Raza, Sapna Ghazal, Nuzhat Jaffrie, Eman Qureshi, and Dua Javed.
\nThe storyline revolves around Shamir, whose wife leaves for her parents\u2019 home, prompting him to secretly plan a birthday celebration for his girlfriend at his house. To make the occasion special, he even hires a chef.
\nHowever, the situation takes a comic turn when Shamir\u2019s friend unexpectedly arrives from Dubai. Matters worsen further when Shamir\u2019s wife suddenly informs him of her return after recalling that the following day is their wedding anniversary, along with placing an order for a cake.
\nCaught in a web of rapidly changing circumstances, Shamir panics and attempts to pass off his girlfriend as his friend\u2019s girlfriend. The confusion escalates when, instead of the girlfriend, the chef makes an untimely entrance, triggering a chain of hilarious misunderstandings.
\nThe clever exchange of roles, witty dialogues, and fast-paced comic situations kept the audience laughing throughout the performance. The play maintained its comic momentum until the end and was warmly received by theatre enthusiasts.
