PESHAWAR: Mother long illness of HIV positive stuck of her two young daughter\u2019s marital life as several times marriage proposal rejected with this cause that the girls would be HIV positive like mother. Bushra-45 living with HIV \/Aids for the last many years facing immense problems to married her two daughters because most of the people rejected the proposal offers for them as her mother living with HIV.
\n\u201cI assure many time the people that came to us for marriage proposal for my two daughter but the peoples were reluctant when they knew that there is a HIV patient in the family and they simply rejected\u201d, Bushra the mother of two daughters said as tears were rolling on her chin.
\nShe further said that no one in her family was HIV patient but when she went for her check up to Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar where the doctors diagnosed her as HIV patient.
\n\u201cHere despite educated people when came to know that the patients is HIV patients and they assuming that the person may be involved in illegal sex relation, adding that there are many other reason for HIV as well\u201d. According to HIV\/Aid Control Program around 2,643 patients of HIV were registered with KP Aids control program. Around 2341 patients of HIV were registered in Hayatabad Medical Complex Family Care Centre as around 1,781 were male while 587 were female patients. According to the United Nation\u2019s office on Drug Abuse and Crime report around 94,000 HIV positive patients in Pakistan, the second largest number in South Asia.
\nThere are estimated to be around 16,000 unregistered HIV patients in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while around 47,000 injecting drug users (IDUs) share syringes due to the unavailability of sterile needles in the country.
\nTrans Alliance president Farzana working for transgender in Peshawar said that there are around 55, 000 transgender in KP among them around 20 % transgender living with HIV.
\nShe further said that the government was announced budget and other incentives for transgender in the provincial budget but nothing was given to transgender community. \u201cWhen the transgender were went for treatment to hospital not only the common people were laughing behind him but as well as doctors were also laughing on them\u201d, Farzana added.
