HAVELIAN: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Friday said that empowering youth through education and modern technology is essential for ensuring a bright future for Pakistan. He expressed these views while addressing students during the Prime Minister\u2019s Laptop Scheme distribution ceremony at Abbottabad University of Science and Technology. \nHe said access to technology has become a necessity in the modern era and such initiatives enable students to compete at the global level.
\nSarda Yousuf informed that the Prime Minister\u2019s Laptop Scheme was first launched in 2013 during the tenure of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, under which nearly 600,000 laptops have been distributed on merit across the country. He said the current phase reflects the government\u2019s commitment to transparency, merit, and equal opportunities for students.
\nHighlighting the role of Abbottabad University of Science and Technology, the Federal Minister said the institution has emerged as an important center of learning and technology with more than 6,000 enrolled students and over 80 highly qualified faculty members.
\nHe added that the university\u2019s proximity to CPEC routes provides unique opportunities for research, innovation, and employment, and suggested a separate interchange for the university to facilitate students and staff. Responding to students\u2019 concerns, the minister assured that efforts would be made to arrange additional transport facilities, including more buses, to address commuting issues.
\nHe also spoke about reviving the unified prayer timing system in mosques, emphasizing the importance of prayer and moral values alongside education. Congratulating the students who received laptops, the Federal Minister said the award was a result of their hard work, dedication, and merit.
