HYDERABAD: Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, and the Sindh Department of Science and Information Technology distributed certificates among 1,500 successful students who completed two-month training courses under the Peoples Information Technology Program (PITP). The MUET\u2019s spokesman informed here on Saturday that 650 of the recipients were female students who received training under the first batch and the second phase of the program. Addressing the ceremony, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh for IT, Rashid, said the Pakistan Peoples Party\u2019s (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and CM Sindh wanted to introduce more programs for youth education and training. \nHe added that youth were the future, and all investment was being made for that future.
\nRashid praised MUET for its excellent work, stating that after visiting engineering universities in Karachi, he found MUET\u2019s environment and performance to be outstanding.Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Tauha said the training helped transform skills of the youth.
\nThe university had changed their perspective and outlook on life and employment, he added.
\nHe stated that within a short period of two months, the university showed trainees pathways to the future so that they could move forward towards self-employment and prove to be productive citizens of the country.
\nThe VC described the program as an ideal initiative for youth education, adding that understanding and training of the Generation Z was a challenging task.
\n\u201cThese students are now part of the Mehran family and its alumni,\u201d he observed.
\nThe Sindh Secretary for the Department of Science and Information Technology, Zulfiqar Ali Nizamani, noted that students who fail to secure university admission often faced difficulty in making career decisions.
\n\u201cI myself couldn\u2019t get admission to the engineering program at MUET so I studied English instead and later passed the competitive examination to become an officer,\u201d he recalled. At the event, intermediate pass students with domicile of Hyderabad and Jamshoro districts received certificates for the 2-month short-course training conducted by MUET in a total of 12 fields.
