\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) has concluded a four-day special milk inspection drive across the province under the chief minister\u2019s Ramadan directives and pre-Ramadan action plan.
\nAccording to an official statement, during the campaign, inspection teams set up checkpoints at the entry points of major cities and carried out strict monitoring of milk supply vehicles to ensure the availability of safe and quality milk for consumers.
\nThe authority stated that 278 milk transport vehicles were inspected during the drive, while 300 milk samples were collected and tested on the spot using mobile food testing laboratories. Of these, 219 samples were found satisfactory, while 81 were declared adulterated and substandard.
\nFollowing confirmation of violations, around 2,155 litres of adulterated milk were discarded on the spot, and fines amounting to millions of rupees were imposed on violators for breaching food safety and hygiene regulations.
\nDivision-wise data showed that 53 samples were tested in Mardan Division, 136 in Hazara Division, 34 in Malakand Division, 10 in Kohat, seven in Peshawar, and 30 each in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan divisions.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Director General KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority Kashif Iqbal Jilani praised the efforts of the inspection teams and said that special checks of milk, meat, bakery items, beverages, spices, cooking oil and ghee, along with other food items commonly consumed during Ramadan, were underway across the province.
\nHe warned that no leniency would be shown to those endangering public health and stressed that food adulteration and substandard practices would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
