\nTransporters in Peshawar have postponed their planned protest scheduled for Tuesday after receiving assurance from the Commissioner of Peshawar Division, Riaz Mahsud, regarding strict action against illegally established D-Class transport terminals.
\nAccording to the meeting details on Monday, a delegation of the Public Transport Owners Association, led by its President Khan Zaman Afridi, along with transport leaders Noor Muhammad, Muhammad Alam, and Haji Shakir met Commissioner Riaz Mahsud to discuss the growing issue of illegal private transport stands operating in the city.
\nDuring the meeting, the transporters informed the commissioner that they are operating public transport services legally from the government-approved C-Class General Bus Stand Peshawar under proper permits. They stated that their operations are fully compliant with the Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965, West Pakistan Motor Vehicle Rules 1969 and other relevant government regulations.
\nThey further added that they regularly pay all required taxes and fees to the metropolitan authorities and concerned departments.
\nHowever, the delegation raised concerns over an illegally established private D-Class bus terminal located adjacent to the C-Class General Bus Stand. They claimed that the illegal terminal is running a separate bus service without registration, which is negatively affecting the status and business of legal transport operators.
\nCommissioner Riaz Mahsud assured the transporters that illegal transport terminals will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and directed them to withdraw the protest call. He further promised that effective action would be taken within two days against illegal terminals and vehicles operating unlawfully.
