\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Wednesday visited Khyber tribal district, where he inaugurated a series of development projects in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment, an official statement said.
\nDuring the visit, the Chief Minister upgraded the Government College of Engineering and Technology Jamrud to offer Applied Sciences, formally inaugurated 50 newly constructed and rehabilitated schools in terrorism-affected areas, opened the completed Bara Bypass Road, launched the Sehat Sahulat Programme at DHQ Hospital Jamrud, and inaugurated a special maternal and child nutrition facility, among other public welfare initiatives.
\nAddressing the ceremonies, CM Afridi said these initiatives were part of a comprehensive strategy to promote modern education, strengthen infrastructure, improve healthcare, and encourage positive youth engagement across the province.
\nHe emphasized that public welfare and protection of citizens\u2019 rights remained the government\u2019s top priority and assured that all decisions will be made strictly in the interest of the people of KP.
\nAt the inauguration of the college upgradation, the Chief Minister highlighted that modern academic programs, including Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics, and Software Engineering, will provide a new direction to education in the province.
\nHe added that state-of-the-art laboratories and modern libraries are being established for the first time in colleges across KP, moving towards a market-oriented education system aimed at reducing unemployment and empowering youth.
\nCM Afridi also expressed concern over what he termed the \u201cdiscriminatory treatment\u201d of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, citing restrictions on medical access and multiple barriers to his own visits to Adiala Jail.
\nHe reiterated that peaceful protest within constitutional limits remained a viable option to safeguard the rights of the province.
\nIn Bara, the Chief Minister inaugurated 50 reconstructed and rehabilitated schools, built with financial and technical support from China. The schools, which include primary, middle, high, and higher secondary institutions, are equipped with solar energy, clean drinking water, and modern sanitation facilities.
\nHe stated that rebuilding schools destroyed by extremists represents an investment in the future and a step towards countering extremism through education.
\nThe completed Bara Bypass Road, spanning 7 kilometres with a 152-metre bridge, was also inaugurated to improve regional connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and promote local trade. At DHQ Hospital Jamrud, CM Afridi launched the Sehat Sahulat Programme to provide free healthcare to deserving families and inaugurated a maternal and child nutrition facility offering screening, diagnosis, and treatment services.
\nHe also launched the preservation and restoration project of Bab-e-Khyber, calling it a vital symbol of the province\u2019s heritage. Concluding his visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Merged Districts Under-16 Boys Games at Jamrud Sports Complex, urging youth to pursue education and sports rather than conflict and assuring that talent from tribal districts will be nurtured for national and international representation.
