The Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Karachi, Akbar Eissazadeh, reaffirmed Iran\u2019s commitment to sovereignty, regional peace, and strengthened ties with Pakistan while addressing a ceremony marking the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.
\nWelcoming distinguished guests on Wednesday, including Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, senior officials of the Sindh government, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives from political and economic sectors, the Consul General described the Islamic Revolution as a living testament to the determination, resilience, and steadfastness of the Iranian nation.
\nHe stated that despite rapidly changing regional dynamics over the past five decades, Iran has achieved significant progress in various sectors by relying on indigenous capabilities, social cohesion, and sustainable human resources. He noted advancements in science, technology, and healthcare, adding that Iran continues to move forward economically despite what he termed as \u201cunjust sanctions\u201d and global economic pressures imposed by major powers.
\nThe Consul General highlighted growth in non-oil exports and said Iran has attained self-sufficiency in infrastructure development, healthcare services, pharmaceutical production, housing projects, provision of clean drinking water, and communications. These developments, he said, have improved the quality of life for ordinary citizens.
\nReferring to recent developments, he said the past year had been marked by challenges.
\nHe also addressed the recent protests in Iran, which began on January 7, 2026, citing economic concerns. According to him, peaceful demonstrations were later infiltrated by \u201cforeign-backed terrorist elements,\u201d turning them into armed unrest. He said members of Iran\u2019s security forces were martyred or injured during the violence. He maintained that while peaceful protest is a right of citizens, the government exercised restraint while ensuring national security and ultimately thwarted attempts to destabilize the country.
\nDescribing Iran as a responsible, independent, and influential country in the region and beyond, he said Tehran supports dialogue and cooperation to ensure peace, stability, and sustainable development. He highlighted Iran\u2019s balanced foreign policy, active diplomacy, and expanding engagement with neighboring countries, emerging powers, and key regional and international organizations.
\nTurning to Pakistan, the Consul General termed it a \u201cbrotherly country\u201d with a rich history, shared religion, and cultural ties. He said Iran-Pakistan relations span centuries and hold a special place in the hearts of the Iranian people. He noted growing momentum in bilateral relations in recent years, particularly in economic, political, and cultural cooperation.
\nHe remarked that relations between the two countries have entered a new phase, describing them as more than state-to-state ties but rather a bond between two nations and civilizations rooted in shared history and a common commitment to peace and lasting prosperity.
\nHe also acknowledged the important role of Sindh province in strengthening bilateral relations, thanking its people for their contribution. He expressed optimism that Memorandums of Understanding signed between Sindh and various Iranian provinces would enhance economic, technical, and cultural cooperation, creating new opportunities in trade, investment, and tourism.
\nConcluding his address, the Consul General expressed gratitude to the attendees and extended his best wishes for peace, stability, progress, and prosperity for the people and governments of Iran and Pakistan.
\nSindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori addressed the event as the chief guest and highlighted Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations and said both countries are connected with strong bonds of culture and religion. Tessori said Iran was the first country who recognized Pakistan after Independence in 1947. He stressed the need to enhance bilateral trade between the two countries to achieve bilateral trade volume of $10 billion.
