\nThe Rawalpindi Cantonment Board conducted a major and effective operation against illegal constructions in Westridge and demolished decades-old encroachments in front of houses inside the streets.
\nThis operation was carried out on the special instructions of Executive Officer Aamir Rashid, while the Deputy CEO was present on the spot and supervised the operation. According to the details, a regular survey of the relevant areas was conducted before the operation, which revealed that some residents had erected solid structures in front of their houses on government roads inside the streets.
\nThese structures included additional rooms, walls, verandas and other structures, due to which the streets had become narrow and severe difficulties were encountered in traffic.
\nAfter the survey, regular notices were issued to the residents and they were directed to voluntarily demolish their illegal constructions themselves.
\nHowever, despite the passage of the stipulated time, no cooperation was provided by the local residents. Due to non-cooperation, the enforcement team of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board was mobilized.
\nA grand operation was carried out today with the assistance of the enforcement branch using heavy machinery. During this, police personnel were also present on the spot to maintain law and order.
\nAccording to the officials of the Cantonment Board, this operation will continue without discrimination and the rule of law will be ensured in the cantonment at all costs. Executive Officer Aamir Rashid has made it clear that no kind of illegal construction on government roads, streets and land will be tolerated.
