\nThe launch ceremony of \u201cBefore the Sirens Came,\u201d an English-language work by 13-year-old emerging author Syeda Minsa Zehra, was held at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, in a dignified and well-attended gathering.
\nProminent literary and intellectual figures of the city graced the occasion and warmly acknowledged the young author\u2019s creative journey.
\nThe event was moderated by Dr Saleem Mughal. Dr Sajid Hussain attended as Chief Guest, while the ceremony was presided over by renowned scholar and writer Sehar Ansari.
\nAmong those who addressed the audience were Usman Jami, Dr Sabir Abu Maryam, and other distinguished members of the literary fraternity.
\nSpeakers, in their remarks, described Syeda Minsa Zehra\u2019s intellectual maturity, choice of subject, and command of expression as remarkable for her age.
\nThey observed that such a thoughtful and composed voice emerging so early in life is a welcome addition to Pakistan\u2019s literary landscape.
\nAddressing a sensitive and deeply human theme such as Palestine, they noted, reflects not only courage but also a promising literary sensibility in the making.
\nIn her address, Syeda Minsa Zehra shared the motivations behind writing the book, stating that the cause of Palestine has long formed part of her moral and intellectual upbringing.
\nShe attributed her achievement entirely to the guidance and encouragement of her parents and teachers, including Dr Fatima Hasan, Dr Syed Shahid Raza, Muhammad Abbas Zaidi, Professor Nisar Sheikh, Abid Sheikh, Aftab Mirani, poet Qaiser Abbas Qaiser, writer Rizwan Naqvi, and others.
\nThe preface of the book reflects a profound emotional connection with Palestine, shaped by family values and a growing awareness of global realities. Through her writing, the author foregrounds hope, resilience, and the enduring power of memory.
