\nPESHAWAR
\nAn important meeting held here on Thursday with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi in the chair, reviewed progress on service delivery by provincial departments under the government\u2019s Good Governance Roadmap, according to an official statement.
\nThe statement said that during the meeting CM Afridi issued strict directives to ensure timely completion of the set targets.
\nOfficials concerned gave a detailed briefing on completed milestones and progress on ongoing initiatives across departments.
\nThe meeting was informed that 327 interventions had been identified under 17 provincial departments, of which 47 had been completed while work on 139 was under way.
\nA total of 268 milestones had been set under the roadmap, with 90 achieved and only three reported to be off track.
\nAddressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said aligning service delivery with public expectations and needs was the fundamental mission of the provincial government.
\nHe made it clear that no negligence or delay in implementing the Good Governance Roadmap would be tolerated and directed departments to complete all delayed matters at the earliest through innovative and result-oriented strategies.
\nHe instructed that all midterm measures under the roadmap must be completed by June this year.
\nThe Chief Minister also directed authorities to finalise arrangements in time to make the upcoming Spring Tree Plantation Campaign the largest and most organised drive in the province\u2019s history.
\nHe stressed active participation of government employees, students and civil society, and called for special promotion of fruit-bearing plants in government offices and official residences.
\nThe meeting discussed the proposed \u201cRoshan Qabail Package\u201d worth Rs1,000 billion for the merged districts. Mr Afridi directed that the package be finalised within the current month and made operational to accelerate development activities in the region.
\nHe further instructed all provincial departments to immediately initiate the budget preparation process for the next fiscal year and ordered that meetings of the Provincial Development Working Party be held on a weekly basis to ensure timely approval and implementation of development projects.
\nIn the health sector, the chief minister directed that recruitment of contract doctors in government hospitals be completed by March 5. He also ordered immediate steps for the launch of mammography services in district headquarters hospitals of southern districts and regional DHQs of other districts.
\nDirecting relief measures in the public utilities sector, he instructed authorities to restore non-functional and damaged tube wells across the province on a priority basis.
\nIn education, the chief minister emphasised increasing teachers\u2019 attendance in government schools from 90 per cent to 100pc and called for the establishment of an effective monitoring mechanism.
\nReviewing law and order and infrastructure matters, he ordered further acceleration of construction work on the Kumrat Valley road and the Hangu-Sarozei road, and directed strengthened security for anti-polio teams to ensure the campaign continued without disruption.
\nReferring to the \u201cEhsaas Apna Ghar Programme\u201d, the chief minister said the initiative reflected the vision of former prime minister Imran Khan and directed that the housing scheme be completed on a fast-track basis to provide facilities to deserving families.
\nHe reiterated that good governance, transparency and effective service delivery remained the government\u2019s top priorities and urged all departments to work collaboratively with a shared sense of responsibility to achieve these objectives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
