The inauguration ceremony of the Management Information System (MIS) and mobile application by the Workers Welfare Fund in Islamabad has emerged as a significant development. It not only reflects institutional reforms but also highlights the government\u2019s serious commitment to the welfare of industrial workers. The chief guest of the ceremony was Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain. Secretary Welfare Fund Zulfiqar Ahmad, Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Mohsin Ayub, media representatives, the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and other senior officials and directors were also present on the occasion.
\nAddressing the ceremony, Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain termed the initiative a historic milestone in institutional improvement and workers\u2019 welfare. He said the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development has modernized the system for providing facilities to workers through bold and revolutionary measures. According to him, the government is taking practical steps beyond political considerations to resolve the issues of all segments of society, and this project is a practical manifestation of that vision.
\nThe Federal Minister paid tribute to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif\u2019s leadership, stating that Pakistan is moving on the path of progress and stability due to his visionary policies. He also appreciated the services of the Pakistan Armed Forces under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and termed the strengthening of national institutions the foundation of the country\u2019s development.
\nHe stated that with the implementation of the mobile application and MIS, workers will now be able to submit their claims from home. This will not only enhance transparency and speed but also ensure merit. He further explained that features such as application tracking, online document verification, and prompt grievance redressal have been introduced through this digital system, which will save workers from unnecessary visits to offices.
\nAccording to the Federal Minister, this initiative is not merely a technical upgrade but a sign of a broader transformation in governance. He said modern states are those that effectively use technology to facilitate their citizens, and Pakistan is moving in the same direction. He emphasized that transparency, accountability, and speed are the three pillars on which the new reform structure is being built.
\nHe further stated that the government is taking serious measures to make institutions exemplary and financially viable. Financial discipline is being strengthened and effective utilization of resources is being ensured so that reforms remain sustainable. He added that in the near future, more services of the Workers Welfare Fund will be gradually shifted to digital platforms to provide workers with a comprehensive and integrated facility.
\nSpeaking about overseas Pakistanis, he said that for the first time various countries are allocating formal job quotas for Pakistan, opening doors to global markets for skilled youth and promising a significant increase in foreign exchange. He added that meetings with foreign ministers are ongoing to resolve the issues of overseas Pakistanis and to create more employment opportunities, which are having positive effects on the national economy. He expressed hope that further concrete progress will be seen in the coming months.
\nSecretary Workers Welfare Fund Zulfiqar Ahmad, in his address, said that under the leadership of Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, this transparency-based project has been successfully completed and the institution will continue its journey of reforms and improvement. He said that MIS and the mobile application will promote data-driven decision-making, enabling better planning of resources and ensuring timely delivery of facilities to workers.
\nAn emotional moment during the ceremony came when the Federal Minister presented a cheque of one million rupees to the child of a worker from Lucky Cement Factory who was martyred in a terrorist incident. Participants described this act as a positive example of humanitarian concern and state responsibility. They also termed it a sign that the government is committed not only at the policy level but also in practical terms to support the labor community.
\nAt the conclusion of the ceremony, commemorative shields were presented to Chief Guest Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Federal Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Secretary Welfare Fund Zulfiqar Ahmad, and other directors. Overall, the ceremony concluded with the message that by utilizing technology for public service, joint efforts will continue for the welfare of industrial workers, strengthening of institutions, and sustainable development of Pakistan.
