\nChief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi formally launched the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 across the province.
\nThe inauguration ceremony was held at the lawn of the Chief Minister\u2019s House, where the Chief Minister planted a sapling to mark the commencement of the campaign and officially announced the launch of tree plantation activities across the province, according to an official statement.
\nDuring a detailed briefing on the occasion, it was informed that a target of planting over 20 million saplings has been set for the ongoing spring campaign.
\nUnder the Upscaling Green Pakistan Programme, 18.3 million saplings will be planted, while 2.48 million saplings will be planted under the Billion Tree Afforestation Support Programme.
\nThe briefing reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment that all concerned departments will work under a coordinated and integrated strategy to ensure the timely and effective achievement of the set targets.
\nOfficials further informed that a mega plantation event will be held on March 23, during which the target is to plant more than one million saplings in a single day.
\nThe special event will ensure active participation of youth, students, civil society, and members of the general public in order to promote tree plantation as a collective national responsibility.
\nAddressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi stated that the promotion and protection of forests remain among the top priorities of the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
\nHe emphasized that comprehensive and sustainable measures are being implemented with continuity to improve the environment and increase forest cover, and that these efforts are already yielding positive results.
\nHe noted that due to policy continuity and consistent government initiatives, there has been a significant increase in forest area in the province, and the ongoing spring plantation campaign will prove to be an important milestone towards environmental sustainability.
\nHe underlined that in the face of mounting environmental challenges, climate change, and pollution, the expansion of forest resources has become indispensable.
\nHe remarked that planting trees should not be treated as a temporary campaign but must become a permanent national habit and collective mindset to ensure a clean, safe, and green environment for future generations.
\nHe further expressed that no government initiative can achieve desired outcomes without public participation and cooperation. Therefore, he urged all segments of society to actively participate in the plantation drive and contribute by planting their share of trees to help make the province greener and more prosperous.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
