KARACHI
\nThe Sindh government has decided to introduce more new buses in Karachi as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the city\u2019s public transport system and provide relief to commuters.
\nThe decision was taken during a high-level meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
\nThe meeting reviewed progress on ongoing projects, including the Red Line BRT, and discussed key measures aimed at enhancing public convenience and strengthening the overall transport network in the metropolis.
\nThe session was attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Managing Director SMTA Kanwal Nizam Bhutto, Project Director Yellow Line Kamal Dayo, and CEO of Trans Karachi Fawad Ghaffar Soomro, along with engineers and consultants concerned.
\nDuring the briefing, the CEO of Trans Karachi presented a detailed update on development work related to the Red Line BRT project, outlining the progress achieved so far, challenges being faced, and future targets. Officials informed the meeting that work on the corridor is underway, though certain hurdles remain.
\nAddressing the participants, Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that while the overall pace of work on the Red Line BRT is satisfactory, it must be further accelerated.
\nHe directed all relevant departments to ensure daily monitoring of progress and emphasized that the timely completion of the corridor is the Sindh government\u2019s top priority to reduce commuting difficulties, traffic congestion, and daily hardships faced by citizens.
\nThe senior minister also instructed authorities to strictly implement alternative traffic management plans during construction activities.
\nHe stressed the need for an effective public awareness campaign to keep citizens informed about development work so that inconvenience can be minimized.
\nSharjeel Inam Memon further directed officials to expedite the launch of new buses and to prioritize routes where commuters face the most severe transportation problems.
\nHe said that the expansion of bus services would provide residents with safe, affordable, and dignified travel facilities.
\nHe also ordered the immediate initiation of construction work on the second phase of the Senator Taj Haider Bridge, directing relevant institutions to take prompt action.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
