\nProvincial Minister for Health Khaliq ur Rehman chaired a high-level meeting to review and activate the Dengue Action Plan (DAP) 2026 in response to the recent reporting of two positive dengue cases in Kohat. Taking immediate notice of the situation, the Health Department has initiated a comprehensive and proactive response to prevent further spread.
\nDuring the briefing, it was informed that over 94,000 households and 183,000 water containers have been inspected across the province as part of intensified surveillance activities. So far, zero dengue larvae have been detected, reflecting the effectiveness of ongoing preventive measures and coordinated field operations.
\nThe Minister directed all district administrations, health facilities, and surveillance teams to remain on high alert and ensure strict implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). He emphasized that early detection, timely response, and community awareness are key pillars of the Dengue Action Plan 2026.
\nThe Health Department has also expedited the procurement of insecticides and essential supplies, strengthened community-based surveillance, and activated rapid response teams at district and tehsil levels. Hospitals have been directed to ensure availability of dengue diagnostic kits, designated isolation wards, and trained medical staff to manage any potential cases efficiently.
\nKhaliq ur Rehman stated that the provincial government is fully committed to safeguarding public health and will not allow dengue to resurface as a public health threat. He urged citizens to cooperate with field teams, eliminate stagnant water from their surroundings, and follow preventive guidelines issued by the Health Department.
\n\u201cThe Dengue Action Plan 2026 is not merely a reactive measure but a proactive, province-wide strategy to maintain zero-larvae status and protect our communities,\u201d the Minister remarked.
