President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday paid tribute to the armed forces\u2019 courage on the seventh anniversary of Operation Swift Retort, reaffirming that whether from the east or west, any violation of Pakistan\u2019s sovereignty would be met with an immediate, decisive and forceful response.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn the seventh anniversary of Operation Swift Retort, the entire nation pays tribute to the courage, professional excellence and sacrifices of its armed forces,\u201d the president said in a message issued by the Presidency.<\/p>\n
He said, by delivering a befitting response to the unprovoked aggression of February 27, 2019, Pakistan proved that there can be no compromise on national sovereignty.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust as the enemy from the east was decisively repelled during Operation Swift Retort, the same resolve and capability were demonstrated yesterday on the western border.\u201d<\/p>\n
The president said that this was a clear message to the patrons of miscreants operating in Pakistan under foreign sponsorship, as well as to the non-representative government of Afghanistan, that Pakistan will not be swayed by any expediency when it comes to defending its security and dignity.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur armed forces remain fully vigilant at all times, prepared and fully capable of confronting any threat,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
The president said Pakistan desired peace in the region, but peace was not a sign of weakness; it was maintained through the balanced and responsible use of strength.<\/p>\n
