\nThe provincial health department on Friday launched the Dengue Action Plan 2026 across the province as a pre-emptive measure to prevent potential outbreaks and safeguard public health, a handout said.
\nAccording to the statement, the plan was approved by the chief secretary and its implementation was formally initiated at a meeting chaired by the provincial health minister and secretary health. The meeting reviewed the current dengue situation and stressed the need for strong coordination, timely reporting and preventive measures ahead of the peak transmission season.
\nOfficials said the government was adopting proactive steps to minimise outbreak risks and ensure preparedness at all administrative and healthcare levels.
\nFollowing the meeting, the Directorate General Health Services Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued directives to all deputy commissioners, district health officers and medical superintendents to ensure strict implementation of the plan in accordance with the approved strategy.
\nUnder the initiative, District Dengue Prevention and Response Units are being established in all districts to monitor dengue-related activities, coordinate field operations and ensure swift response to suspected cases. District and hospital focal persons are also being nominated to strengthen surveillance, reporting and case management.
\nAn early advisory on dengue prevention and control has been circulated province-wide, highlighting the importance of public awareness, elimination of mosquito breeding sites, early detection of cases and prompt response.
\nTo enhance surveillance, all public sector laboratories of medical teaching institutions and district headquarters hospitals operating under the Public Health Laboratory Network Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been directed to submit comprehensive weekly dengue case reports.
\nThe network functions under the Public Health Reference Laboratory at Khyber Medical University.
\nThe department has also contacted the KP Health Care Commission to facilitate inclusion of private hospital chains in the dengue reporting system to ensure comprehensive surveillance and accurate data collection from both public and private health facilities.
\nAt the provincial level, the Provincial Dengue Prevention and Response Unit at the DGHS office has begun coordination efforts to oversee implementation, monitor district performance and provide timely guidance to field teams.
\nHealth authorities expressed confidence that coordinated efforts, strict monitoring and public cooperation would help minimise the impact of dengue and protect communities across the province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
