\nThe Murree Police have launched a \u201cSafe Tourism App\u201d in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif, transforming traditional policing into a smart, technology-driven security system for tourists.
\nDistrict Police Officer (DPO) Murree Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer told reporters on Sunday the application, developed to international standards, would serve as a 24\/7 \u201cVirtual Tourist Guide\u201d.
\nHe said the platform \u201cintegrates multiple departments including Police, Rescue 1122, District Administration, Traffic Police, Motorway Police and the Meteorological Department into a single digital interface\u201d.
\n\u201cThe app ensures immediate access to emergency services and provides live weather and traffic updates,\u201d Dr Tanveer said. He added that a \u201cVirtual Women Police Station\u201d had been incorporated to prioritise the safety of women and families, while an AI-powered chatbot offers instant guidance on navigation, conditions and routes.
\nTo strengthen accountability, a \u201cText to DPO\u201d facility has been introduced, enabling tourists to lodge complaints or emergencies directly via WhatsApp.
\nThe app also features a \u201cSmart Tourism Directory\u201d listing police stations, hotels, hospitals, workshops and verified recreational sites with GPS-enabled live locations. Dr Tanveer emphasised that the initiative \u201cseeks to safeguard Murree\u2019s tradition of hospitality through modern technology.
\nOur goal is to ensure tourists return home with pleasant memories\u201d.
