\nProvincial Chairman of the Qaumi Watan Party, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, has said his party will continue its struggle for the protection and development of the rights of the people of the province.
\nHe was addressing a joining ceremony held in Union Council Mandani, where farmer councillor Ghulam Muhammad and senior leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Muhammad Afsar Khan announced their decision to join the QWP along with dozens of colleagues and family members.
\nMr Sherpao welcomed the new entrants and adorned them with the party\u2019s tricolour caps.
\nCriticising the provincial government, he said that due to what he termed wrong policies of the current rulers, anarchy and mismanagement prevailed across the province and the government had failed to provide relief to the people.
\nHe said the deteriorating law and order situation, along with rising inflation and unemployment, had pushed the people into severe difficulties. Instead of adopting effective strategies to resolve public issues, he added, the rulers were limited to making claims.
\nReferring to Pak-Afghan tensions, Mr Sherpao said the Afghan government should be given the opportunity to take action against cross-border terrorism and that effective measures must be adopted to prevent such incidents.
\nHe said the security, peace, development and prosperity of the country would always remain his party\u2019s priority, stressing that serious steps were needed to resolve border issues to ensure lasting peace in the region.
\nExpressing concern over the situation in the Middle East, he said the effects of the prevailing tensions could impact the entire region.
