\nAmbassador of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference and Advisor to the Chairman Senate Misbah Khar Tuesday said that International Women\u2019s Day is not merely a celebration, but a reminder of the collective responsibility to create equitable opportunities for women across all sectors of society.
\nAddressing the International Women\u2019s Day celebration held at Millennium Universal International College (MUIC) she highlighted the indispensable role of women in Pakistan\u2019s history, progress, and future development.
\nKhar extended her gratitude to the organizers, distinguished guests, faculty members, and students for hosting a meaningful event dedicated to recognizing women\u2019s achievements and advancing the cause of gender equity and inclusive leadership.
\nReflecting on Pakistan\u2019s struggle for independence and national development, she paid tribute to Fatima Jinnah, the Mother of the Nation, for mobilizing women during the freedom movement alongside Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
\nShe also acknowledged the pioneering efforts of Rana Liaquat Ali Khan in promoting women\u2019s social and political empowerment.
\nShe made special reference to Benazir Bhutto, the first Muslim woman Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Muslim world, describing her as a symbol of courage, resilience, and visionary leadership who shattered barriers and inspired generations of women to aspire to positions of national and global leadership.
\nQuoting Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, she reiterated his historic words: \u201cNo nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you.\u201d
\nShe remarked that this principle remains fundamental to Pakistan\u2019s progress and prosperity. Highlighting contemporary challenges, Ms. Khar stressed that women\u2019s political, economic, and social empowerment is essential for sustainable national development.
\nShe underscored the importance of equal access to education, enhanced representation in leadership roles, and the removal of structural barriers that impede women\u2019s advancement.
\n\u201cAs a representative of modern, progressive Pakistani women in parliamentary services,\u201d she stated, \u201cI firmly believe that empowering women is not an act of charity, it is an investment in national prosperity. When women thrive, families, communities, and the nation prosper.\u201d
\nAddressing young women and students present at the event, the Ambassador of ISC encouraged them to pursue excellence, challenge stereotypes, and refuse to be defined by limitations.
\nShe emphasized that Pakistan\u2019s future depends on the courage, innovation, and leadership of its women.
\nReferring to global advocacy for gender equality, Ms. Khar cited Emma Watson in calling for a shift in societal narratives that empower both girls and boys to challenge stereotypes.
\nShe also quoted Maya Angelou, urging continuous growth and self-improvement in the pursuit of equality and justice.
\nMs. Khar called upon all stakeholders to renew their commitment to building a Pakistan where women and men walk side by side in shaping a brighter, more inclusive future.
