\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Mian Khaliq-ur-Rehman has welcomed the launch of the province\u2019s Pharmacy Services Policy, describing it as an important step toward strengthening the health system and ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines.
\nIn a statement, the minister said the effective integration of pharmacy services within health institutions would enhance patient safety and significantly improve the quality of treatment across the province.
\nHe said the policy aims to ensure the rational and standardised use of medicines, promote evidence-based drug therapy and further strengthen the role of pharmacists within the healthcare system.
\nUnder the policy, pharmacovigilance centres will be established to monitor the safety and effectiveness of medicines. In addition, antimicrobial stewardship programmes will be introduced to encourage the responsible use of antibiotics and help reduce the risks associated with antimicrobial resistance.
\nMr Khaliq-ur-Rehman said the policy would also improve the medicines supply chain system, ensuring proper storage, efficient distribution and the timely availability of essential medicines in health facilities.
\nHe noted that the effective implementation of the Pharmacy Services Policy would lead to improved treatment outcomes, shorter hospital stays and better overall performance of health services in the province.
\nThe provincial health minister directed the relevant authorities to ensure effective implementation of the policy in all health institutions so that the public could benefit from safe, high-quality and reliable pharmaceutical services.
