\nSpecial Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan on Saturday strongly criticised the federal government\u2019s decision to increase petrol and diesel prices by Rs55 per litre, describing the move as unjustified and a burden on citizens already struggling with inflation.
\nIn a statement, Mr Jan said daily-wage earners and salaried employees were already finding it difficult to meet basic needs, and the increase in fuel prices would further aggravate their hardships.
\n\u201cPeople are already struggling to afford two meals a day. This decision will push the poor deeper into the quagmire of inflation,\u201d he said.
\nThe special assistant warned that the hike in petrol and diesel prices would directly affect every household and place additional pressure on low-income families.
\nHe said the increase would trigger a rise in transport fares as well as the prices of essential commodities such as flour, ghee and other daily-use items, making life even more difficult for ordinary citizens.
\nMr Jan also criticised what he described as the \u201cdouble standards\u201d of the ruling leadership, recalling that there had been strong protests over petrol prices during the tenure of former prime minister Imran Khan when fuel prices were around Rs150 per litre.
\n\u201cThe insensitivity and duplicity of the present government have now been fully exposed,\u201d he said, adding that the public had every right to question why the economic burden was repeatedly placed on the poor and middle class.
\nHe demanded that the federal government provide relief to the people and adopt policies aimed at protecting citizens rather than worsening the inflation crisis.
\nMr Jan reiterated that the KP government would continue to raise the voice of the people on every platform and take a firm stance to safeguard the interests of ordinary citizens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
