\nDue to an arm battle between Pakistan and Afghanistan, residents of Bacha Mena, the bordering village have got refuge in rail tunnels between Landi Kotal and Torkham.
\nIt is to be stated here that Bacha Maina, the bordering village of Pakistan has ten to fifteen thousand population and after combat began between Pakistan and Afghanistan on 26 February,2026 midnight, most of them have left their homes and sought refuge either with their relatives in Landi Kotal or in the rail tunnels.
\nThe displaced people said that prior no alternative arrangements had been made for them therefore they had no other option but to take temporary shelter in the tunnels.
\nShah Waliullah, a resident of Bacha Maina said that soon after the cross firing started between the two forces, they started evacuating their homes in hurry, carrying their children and patients and took refuge in the tunnels.
\nHe further said that indiscriminate artillery shillings create terror among their women and children therefore they are compelled to shift them to secure places.
\nNo relief had been provided to them by the government and they were serving their lives in shortage of flood, water and in unhygienic conditions in the tunnels, he regretted.
\nFive to six hundred persons shifted in the tunnels when the cross firing started at the border,locals said.
\nOn the other hand, shelling between the Pak and Afghan is in progress from time to time at the border and last night the Afghan regime fired several mortar shells in Torkham, Bacha Maina, Ghakhi check post and Dorma Kor of Loy, Shelman, however no casualty was reported.
