\nThe government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has summoned the 49th meeting of the provincial cabinet on Monday, March 9 at 2:00 PM at the Cabinet Room of the Civil Secretariat here.
\nThe meeting will be chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
\nAccording to a notification issued by the administration department, the cabinet will discuss several important projects and policy matters related to provincial development including urban infrastructure, energy, health, education and social welfare. Provincial ministers, advisers and senior officials of relevant departments have also been invited to attend the meeting.
\nThe agenda includes approval for financial support from the provincial treasury for the establishment of a Forensic Science Laboratory in Peshawar. The project aims at improving scientific investigation of crimes and enhance the capacity of law-enforcement agencies.
\nThe cabinet will also be briefed on the Peshawar Revitalization Plan, which focuses on improving urban facilities and the development of the city. In addition, discussions will take place on development work in Sheikh Maltoon Township in Mardan and the installation of water harvesting units in Nowshera with financial support from the Global Adaptation Fund to improve water management and address climate change challenges.
\nProposed amendments to the Nikahnama form under the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance 1961 will also be presented to remove certain shortcomings.
\nTo address traffic problems in Peshawar, the cabinet will review the feasibility study and design of a link road connecting Hayatabad Industrial Estate to the Northern Bypass, as well as proposals to construct underpasses at Ramdas Chowk and Lahori Chowk on University Road.
\nOther agenda items include improving city infrastructure, building monuments, installing street lights and developing green spaces. Plans for cleaning and de-silting major irrigation channels will also be discussed.
\nIn the legal sector, the cabinet will consider launching a pilot project of double-docket courts in Peshawar and Abbottabad, and transferring 100 kanals of government land in Timergara, Lower Dir for the construction of a judicial complex.
\nHealth-related proposals include new appointments of Principal Medical Officers, upgrading DHQ Hospital Abbottabad to Category-A, increasing project costs and establishing advanced cardiac and thoracic surgery facilities at Khyber Teaching Hospital.
