\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have taken a significant step toward adopting modern technology by establishing the country\u2019s first formal Unmanned Aerial Surveillance Unit (UAV Division).
\nUnder this initiative, a specialized team has been formed that will use unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to assist in surveillance, security operations and other police activities.
\nAccording to police officials on Sunday, the primary objective of the new unit is to ensure effective monitoring of sensitive locations, public gatherings and remote areas. These unmanned aerial machines can fly at high altitudes and transmit live images and video footage directly to the control center, enabling the police to receive real-time information and make quicker decisions.
\nAuthorities stated that the establishment of this unit will also significantly improve counter-terrorism operations. Many areas of the province consist of difficult mountainous terrain where traditional surveillance methods are challenging and time-consuming. Aerial monitoring will make it easier to observe movement and detect suspicious activities in such regions.
\nThe system will also be useful during large public events, religious gatherings and protest demonstrations. With aerial views, police officials will have a clear understanding of on-ground situations, making it easier to maintain law and order.
\nPolice personnel assigned to this unit have received specialized training, including drone operation, maintenance and analysis of aerial images. After completing training, these officers will be deployed in different districts so that aerial surveillance can be conducted quickly whenever required.
\nOfficials further noted that these aerial machines will also play an important role in search and rescue operations during natural disasters, such as floods or landslides. They can help locate stranded individuals in remote areas and assess damage in affected regions.
\nAccording to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, the use of modern technology will not only improve police efficiency but also enhance the protection of life and property of the public.
