\nAwami National Party (ANP) provincial general secretary Hussain Shah Yousafzai has expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, accusing the provincial government of failing to maintain peace and curb terrorism in the province.
\nIn a statement, Mr Yousafzai said the provincial government had failed in governance, development projects, establishment of peace and eradication of terrorism during the past 13 years.
\nHe said incidents of terrorism were increasing across the province and had even reached the provincial capital, Peshawar. \u201cNew incidents are emerging every day,\u201d he said, adding that militants had reportedly been seen checking civilians in areas such as Katlang in Mardan and Bara in Khyber District.
\nHe said the recent attack on a police patrol van in Lakki Marwat showed that the government\u2019s writ had weakened.
\nMr Yousafzai questioned what kind of protection the provincial government was providing to citizens if militants were able to operate openly. He asked the government to clarify what effective strategy it had adopted to address the rising incidents of terrorism.
\nHe said the public should not be left at the mercy of militants while incidents were repeatedly attributed to conspiracies.
\nThe ANP leader also criticised the distribution of the government\u2019s Ramazan relief package, alleging irregularities and favouritism in the process.
\nHe claimed that in several areas multiple members of the same family had received the package while many deserving families were deprived of assistance.
\nMr Yousafzai said the aid should be distributed on merit and in a transparent manner so that it reached genuinely deserving people during the holy month of Ramadan.
\nHe demanded that the provincial government take immediate and serious steps to restore law and order, prevent terrorist incidents and ensure the safety of the people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
