{"id":536947,"date":"2026-03-17T04:19:22","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T23:19:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=536947"},"modified":"2026-03-17T04:19:22","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T23:19:22","slug":"jailed-pti-leaders-appeal-to-cjp-for-early-hearing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/jailed-pti-leaders-appeal-to-cjp-for-early-hearing\/","title":{"rendered":"Jailed PTI leaders appeal to CJP for early hearing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>May 9 conviction appeals<br \/>\n LAHORE<br \/>\nSeveral senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), currently imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail, have appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi to ensure the early hearing of their appeals against their convictions.<br \/>\nIn a letter dispatched to Afridi from jail, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed and Ejaz Chaudhry urged the chief justice to direct the high court to fix their appeals for hearing at the earliest, stating that they are being deprived of their constitutional and legal right to a timely hearing.<br \/>\nThe Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had sentenced them in July 2025 in cases related to the May 9 incidents.
