\nA group of inspiring youngsters, gathered under the platform of TIFL Foundation, have kept the true spirit of Ramzan alive by organizing iftar dinners and distributing food packages among underprivileged families.
\nTheir initiative aims to spread compassion, unity and generosity during the holy month, ensuring that those in need can also observe Ramzan with dignity and comfort.
\nThe youngsters mostly students from Peshawar had formed TIFL Foundation a couple of years earlier as an novice attempt of gaining maximum spiritual benefits during the holy month of Ramadan.
\nThe initiative showed encouraging results of reaching out to thousands of deserving faithful by arranging Iftar dinners and providing food packages to them.
\n\u201cThe objective behind forming TIFL foundation was to do some practical work that reflect true spirit of Ramadan by extending helping hand to needy people in our society,\u201d observed Sanan Saleem, a founding member of TIFL Foundation.
\nThe foundation has very few members and all are in their teens, but their sentiments of helping the poor got practical shape with the support of family elders and relatives, Sanan told APP.
\n\u201cWe started from scratch by accumulating few thousands rupees from our own pockets during initial days of Ramadan and within few days, hundreds of thousands of rupees starting pouring in from our relatives and friends living within the country and abroad,\u201d explains Muhammad Ahmad, an IT graduate from FAST University.
\n\u201cThe response to our calls through whatsapp messages and video documentary uploaded on social media was very encouraging, instilling renewed spirit of doing maximum for the support of poor people,\u201d said Moiz Ahmad and student of IMSciences University.
\n\u201cThe feedback to out initiative is inspiring, providing us satisfaction and boosting our resolve of doing more and with improve planning for the cause of helping poor,\u201d opined Abdul Mohaiman, a member of the group.
\nOther members in the group are Abudul Muqeet, Momin, Ali Ahmad Siddique, Abdul Rahim, Abdul Mohaiman, Hamad, Musa, Abdullah, Shaheer, Sufiyan, Malik Mohsin, Abdul Mobeen.
\nLarge dastarkhawans were spread on daily basis in busy area of Warsak Road and people were provided eatable items including dates, samosas, pikoars, rice, kababs and sweet drink.
\nThe beneficiaries were mostly poor passer-by, labourers, cab drivers, rickshaws, donkey cart owners, child beggars etc.
\nApart from Iftar dinner, the group members also distributed food packages among poor families. The packages contained essential food items including flour, rice, sugar, pulses, chick peas, beans, tea, cooking oil etc.
\nThey are also considering distribution of some amount as Eidi to support poor families in celebration of religious festival.
\n\u201cThis is a very positive activity by our youngsters and portray true message of Ramadan that everyone should become sensitive for those who cannot afford two time meals and provide them support,\u201d commented Prof Dr. Abdul Ghafoor, a noted religious scholar and former Director of Sheikh Zahid Islamic Center.
\nDr. Ghafoor also appreciated those who encouraged and provided financial support to these enthusiastic youngsters for doing this noble effort.
