Police return over Rs7.4 mln to passengers

\nThe National Highways & Motorway Police is continuing its enforcement actions against public transport vehicles involved in overcharging, resulting in the refund of more than 7.4 million rupees to passengers. Commuters have appreciated this proactive initiative and expressed their gratitude to the Motorway Police.
\nThe NHMP remains committed to ensuring safe travel for road users and maintaining equal enforcement of the law on national highways and motorways. On the directives of Inspector General NHMP, Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, a special enforcement campaign against overcharging, overloading, and other traffic violations has been vigorously underway since March 15, 2026. During the campaign, strict action is being taken against transporters involved in overcharging.
\nIn particular, public service vehicles (PSVs) were found to have unlawfully collected excess fares from passengers during Eid-ul-Fitr. The NHMP has successfully ensured the refund of more than 7.4 million rupees to affected passengers.
\nIn addition to overcharging, large-scale enforcement operations are also being carried out against overloading and passenger vehicles operating with incomplete travel documents. In line with the government\u2019s austerity policy and fuel conservation measures, special steps have also been taken since March 12, 2026, to ensure compliance with revised speed limits.
\nSo far, more than 58,000 vehicles have been fined for over speeding. Citizens are encouraged to report any incidents of overcharging or overloading immediately to Motorway Police officers, via the helpline 130, or through the official social media handle @NHMP.
