\nThe National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) continues to undertake effective measures to ensure safe travel for commuters and uniform enforcement of the law on national highways and motorways. On the special directives of Inspector General NHMP, Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, a comprehensive enforcement campaign was conducted from March 15 to March 28, 2026, against Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) involved in overcharging, overloading, and other traffic violations.
\nDuring the campaign, more than PKR 7.8 million, unlawfully overcharged from passengers by PSVs, was refunded. Passengers appreciated this commendable initiative of the Motorway Police and expressed their gratitude.
\nIn addition, large-scale legal action was taken against passenger vehicles involved in overloading, overcharging, and operating with incomplete travel documents. These actions aim not only to ensure strict compliance with the law but also to safeguard the lives and property of passengers.
\nIn line with the government\u2019s austerity policy and fuel conservation measures, special steps have also been taken since March 12, 2026, to ensure implementation of the revised speed limits. NHMP officers are actively creating awareness among road users at various toll plazas across the country regarding new speed limits, road safety rules, and safe travel practices.
\nMoreover, more than 68,000 vehicles have so far been fined for speed limit violations. Commuters are encouraged to seek assistance, guidance, or lodge complaints with NHMP officers, through Helpline 130, or via the official social media handle @NHMP. The Motorway Police remains committed to public service, transparency, and impartial enforcement of the law, and will continue its efforts to provide safe and comfortable travel to all road users.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
