\nIndicating a rise in the monkeypox cases in Khairpur district, the Director General of Sindh Health Department has written a letter to Aga Khan University Laboratory requesting support for tests of suspected monkeypox cases.
\nThe DG Health apprised the lab that suspected cases of Mpox have been reported from Khairpur district.\u201d
\nIn view of the public health importance of timely diagnosis and response, your support is requested for laboratory testing and confirmation of suspected Mpox cases,\u201d he stated.
\nAccording to the DG, 8 samples of as many patients were sent to the lab by April 2.
\nHe urged the lab to facilitate priority testing of those samples in accordance with the recommended biosafety and diagnostic protocols.
