\nPESHAWAR
\nThe second phase of the 2026 anti-polio campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was formally launched on Wednesday by provincial health minister Khaliq-ur-Rehman, who administered polio drops to children at the inauguration ceremony.
\nAddressing the occasion, the Health Minister said the campaign aims to vaccinate 6.5 million children across the province.
\nOver 35,500 polio teams have been mobilised to go door-to-door to ensure every child receives the vaccine.
\nHighlighting security arrangements, Khaliq-ur-Rehman said more than 50,000 security personnel have been deployed with polio teams to guarantee their safety and uninterrupted operations.
\n\u201cThe mission of the KP government is to make the province completely polio-free,\u201d the minister said, expressing satisfaction that no polio cases have been reported in the province so far this year, a testament to the government\u2019s effective strategy.
\n\u201cThe polio eradication programme is steadily achieving its objectives,\u201d the health minister said and urged parents, teachers, religious scholars, and all segments of society to cooperate fully with polio teams and ensure their children are vaccinated.
\nKhaliq-ur-Rehman expressed hope that KP will not only maintain its polio-free status but also serve as a model for other provinces in public health initiatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
