\nThe Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for widespread rain, strong winds and thunderstorms across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from April 16 to 19, warning of possible flash floods, landslides and urban flooding in several districts. According to the PDMA, most districts of the province are expected to receive rain accompanied by strong winds and hailstorms during the forecast period. District administrations have been directed to take precautionary measures and ensure preparedness to deal with any emergency situation. Heavy rain and hail are likely in upper districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad.
\nRain and thunderstorms are also expected in plain and tribal districts including Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Kohat, Kurram, Orakzai, Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank. The authority warned of a heightened risk of landslides in upper regions and flash flooding in areas such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Buner, Abbottabad and Kohistan. Urban flooding is also feared in low-lying areas of Peshawar, Mardan and Nowshera. Strong winds and hailstorms may damage weak structures, electricity poles and solar panels, while standing crops across the province could also be affected. Farmers have been advised to take precautionary measures. District administrations have been directed to activate rescue teams, ensure availability of resources, and keep major highways open while maintaining traffic flow through alternative routes where necessary. Relevant departments have also been instructed to clean drainage systems to minimise the risk of urban flooding.
