CDF Munir meets Iran\u2019s Parliament Speaker Bagher Ghalibaf

\nChief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Tehran on Thursday, PressTV reported on X.
\nIranian media said he also held a meeting with Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters Commander Major General Ali Abdollahi.
\nAs per IRNA, he \u201cpresented a report on the measures he has taken within the framework of ending the war as well as his talks in Tehran, and stressed the continuation of these efforts\u201d.
\nMeanwhile, two government sources told Anadolu that Pakistan was working for a \u201cbreakthrough\u201d on Iran\u2019s nuclear programme issue in \u201cdays to come\u201d with CDF Munir holding talks with the Iranian leadership on the issue, which remains the key bottleneck in the way of a negotiated settlement with the United States.
\nIslamabad \u201cis working on bringing a maximum understanding\u201d between the US and Iran, with a focus on Tehran\u2019s nuclear issue, before a possible new round of talks in the capital, said the sources, stressing anonymity for discussing \u201csensitive details\u201d of the ongoing mediation process.
\nSources also said Iran has agreed to a third-party monitoring of its nuclear programme by four nations jointly with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
\n\u201cTehran in principle agrees to Islamabad\u2019s proposal\u201d of third-party monitoring on its nuclear programme, they said, adding that Iran has no objection to the inclusion of the IAEA in the four-nation monitoring framework.
\nIran has conveyed its agreement to CDF Munir, while Washington has yet to react to the proposal, the sources noted.
\nNo names were provided for potential members of the four-nation team.
\nThe US has long demanded \u201cstrict and comprehensive\u201d monitoring to ensure that Iran does not build a nuclear weapon.
\nReports have emerged from Tehran that gaps between the US and Iranian demands have been \u201creduced,\u201d while the nuclear issue remains the main issue.
\nWashington\u2019s priority, however, \u201cstill is the suspension of Iran\u2019s uranium enrichment programme for at least 20 years in exchange for sanctions relief\u201d, the Pakistani sources added.
\nIran is said to have over 400 kilogrammes of enriched uranium, and Tehran has proposed that it can suspend nuclear activity for up to five years, according to The New York Times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
