\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Khaliq-ur-Rehman on Thursday said that the promotion of 627 doctors within 40 days marks a major step towards improving the province\u2019s healthcare system.
\nThe minister termed the record promotions a historic development, stating that the initiative reflects efficiency, transparency and a merit-based system within the health department.
\nAccording to details, 290 medical officers have recently been promoted to the posts of senior medical officers, while 337 doctors were promoted earlier, bringing the total number to 627 within a short span. Khaliq-ur-Rehman said the promotion process was carried out strictly in accordance with rules and merit, which has helped enhance institutional confidence.
\nHe added that the government is prioritising the development of human resources in the health sector, noting that timely career progression not only improves doctors\u2019 professional capabilities but also enables better service delivery.
\nThe minister said the move would strengthen healthcare services at district and tehsil-level hospitals by increasing the availability of senior doctors, thereby improving decision-making and medical supervision.
\nHe maintained that the government is taking concrete steps to address issues related to doctors\u2019 welfare, career growth and working conditions to ensure effective service delivery.
\nReaffirming the government\u2019s commitment, Khaliq-ur-Rehman said the health system is being developed along modern lines with a focus on merit, transparency and efficiency.
\nHe appreciated the efforts of the health department, particularly Shahidullah Khan and other officials, terming the achievement a result of coordinated teamwork and effective strategy.
