Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said, the difficulties faced by the people of FATA in recent years has no other precedence in the history of the country but in this hard time they stood shoulder to shoulder with the Pak Army.
\nThe Governor met the army soldiers at the frontline security posts at Sara Waila along Pak-Afghan border in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency on Wednesday.
\nMeanwhile addressing the concluding ceremony of a Sports Festival jointly arranged by the Frontier Corps; 27 Brigade and the 54 Brigade at Maidan area of the Tirah Valley, the Governor further said, the successes of our security forces in their struggle to restore peace and stability are the immortal part of our history.
\nHe said that the spirit, with which the tribal people have extended support to the security forces in making all this possible, is also a unique honour for the entire nation. The Governor appreciated the skills and spirit of the sportsmen and announced cash prizes of Rs.20,000 for the winners and Rs.10,000 for the runner ups.
\nHe also announced a cash prize of Rs.50,000 for a group of local students for excellently presenting national anthem on this occasion.
\nReferring to the developmental needs of the area, the Governor said that construction of roads and small dams will continue as the priority subjects of the government in its efforts for ensuring rapid development of the infrastructure facilities and future well being of the local tribal people.
\nBrig. Rahat Naseem, Commander 27 Brigade said that the area has been cleared of militants and formal posts established along the borders. Brig. Muhammad Shahbaz, Commander, 54-Brigade was also present on this occasion while the IGFC, Maj. Gen. Shaheen Mazhar Mahmood and the ACS FATA, Mr. Fida Wazir also accompanied the Governor. The Governor also met a local tribal jirga at Sara Waila.
