He expressed these views during a meeting with Dr.Atiq Anwar Khan,Head of Oncology at Nishtar Hospital and eye specialist Dr.Ilyas Sandhila.<br \/>\nThe meeting reviewed progress, facilities and future expansion plans of the under-construction cancer center.<br \/>\nIt was highlighted that Gilani,during his tenure as Prime Minister in 2010,had laid the foundation for the project to provide advanced cancer treatment facilities to patients in South Punjab.<br \/>\nThe initiative,backed by the Punjab government, is now nearing completion.<br \/>\nGilani said that the state-of-the-art facility would serve as a ray of hope for millions in the region,reaffirming his commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare at people\u2019s doorsteps.<br \/>\nThe cancer center will have more than 100 beds and offer comprehensive services including diagnosis, treatment and patient care under one roof.<br \/>\nA key feature of the project was the installation of a modern PET Scan machine,the first of its kind in Punjab.<br \/>\nHighlighting the rising number of cancer cases,Gilani emphasized the need to further strengthen radiotherapy services.
